I made a giraffe!

Henry came running from the playroom all excited.   "I made a yellow giraffe,"  he told me as I was finishing up an email.  I turned around and sure enough, he had constructed a giraffe after sifting through the Duplo blocks and  selecting just the right pieces.  Maybe I'm more excited than I should be...but he did this all by himself!  Without any prompting, he used open-ended play materials and constructed a recognizable object that had value to him.  We invited the giraffe to lunch and the four of us sat around the table enjoying Pad Thai.  Actually, the giraffe enjoyed the noodle dish more than Liam.  Who knew?

I'm not sure who was more proud. I just know that this is a moment to remember!
