What I'm Laughing at Now

Go ahead, you try it. I'll wait.  You can let me know how it works...

I don't know what's funnier, the photo or the product reviews at One Step Ahead.  But then, I needed a good laugh.  My toddler came down with a very nasty cold.  Liam wasn't sleeping, eating or playing like his usual self for several (l-o-n-n-n-g) days.  He still has a cough and very runny nose, but isn't presing his hand to his eyes and cheeks and saying "ow, ouchie" anymore. He's probably no longer contagious, but  I wouldn't get too close to him if I were you; he uses anything he can get his hands on to wipe his nose.  Sorry, I'm still not buying this product.

Prior to Liam's bout with this uncommonly fierce common cold, Henry went through a developmental surge that cause many sleepless nights in our home.  One record-breaking night, he woke me six times!  I look forward to a full night's sleep but have no idea when that will happen.  For now, I'll settle for getting through the next few days at work and enjoying our spring break next week.

  1. I do hope Liam is feeling better and I can assure you I have no intention of getting within a city block of this latest invention! LOL

  6. Um, okay, I admit I actually own something very similar called a Nose Frida. On Amazon.com one reviewer actually called it (and I quote), "the grossest thing you'll ever love." She was absolutely right on all accounts. I started using it when 'A' was around 9 months old (wish I had started sooner...) and of course he despised it initially. After persistence on my part it has become a huge help, and I'm pretty sure has helped prevent the settling in of sinus infection multiple times. Yes I LOVE it, and Yes it totally looks gross. BUT...unless you have supernatural lungs and suction ability the snot gets nowhere even close to 'you know where'. And that's that!

  7. I'm with Janet, Lara. I use the Nose Frida as well on Baby Tate. The last time was about a month ago. I initially used the bulb to suction his nose, but this is soooo much nicer. He doesn't fight or fuss any less, but now I don't worry about gauging the inside of his nose with the end of the bulb. And I agree with Janet...unless you're superhuman on sucking there is no way anything is going into your mouth! I'm hoping that now that Tate is figuring out how to blow his nose that with the next cold we won't have to use anything. (my ped, allergist and ENT all want me to get the gunk out his nose though we all know there is a school of thought to just saline spray with no suction. Tate's the rare kid under 2 that has been diagnosed with seasonal allergies...gotta get that stuff out) Love my Snot Sucker!!!!
