Two and a Half Candles

Liam has been under the weather for weeks now.  Although he's been to the pediatrician (who doesn't think it is anything serious) he still isn't very active.  In fact, he sleeps every chance he gets.  I had to wake him from a four hour nap to celebrate his half birthday.  (Oh, a four hour nap.  What I would do for one of those.  That's practically a full night's sleep for me these days.)  It took Liam a few minutes to join us at the table.  I don't think he noticed the cake when he first came outside but Henry sure did.  Liam's brother and I sat at the table and called him repeatedly to join us.  Apparently the hose and a bunch of unfilled water balloons were much more interesting to my younger son.  Liam eventually came to the table and seemed glad to have discovered the celebration.  Henry let him blow out his own candles (a first!) and I served the chocolate cake with gooey frosting.  I'm sure you can guess what the boys liked best.  In fact, they only ate the green and pink parts; I cleaned up the chocolate crumbs while they chased each other around the backyard.  Not a bad way to spend a late summer evening, if I do say so myself.

  6. Awww, poor little guy, you know they're not themselves when they willingly sleep that much! It looks like the cake and celebration brought a smile to his face! Hmmm and now I suddenly have a craving for some gooey icing and chocolate cake!
